“Where is all the money…?”

I don’t know about you, but the more I read about the figures the governments throw at us in their plans to solve the financial mess we are all in the more I ask myself where is all that money going to come from? And I don’t think I am alone to be confused. It happens everywhere. Here in France the other day I was sitting in the terrace of a restaurant having a coffee, soaking some sun and listening to some French women sitting at a table besides mine, a good way of learning how the French think and quite amusing sometimes. They were having a rather spirited conversation about the price of this and that when one said, “What I really would like to know is where is all that money the banks said they have lost? It cannot have evaporated.” Nobody apparently could answer her question and from then on the conversation turned conspiratorial first about the banks hiding it, the politicians lying to the citizens… And finally silly but funny when one said:”Well someone must be paying from Carla Bruni’s wardrobe! And them the conversation turned to fashion, travel… and I gave up listening.
It is true that some people are hurting a lot everywhere and the politicians have the obligation to at least try to fix the situation before more people loose their homes and their jobs and families are hurt. Will they do it? It seems they are trying. Americans have to be specially vigilant as they cannot afford that it all turns into a political matter because the elections. I for one don’t like when McCain and Obama try to enter the fray and produce their plans which could only meddle things. I believe things should be left at the moment within the proposed global plan to solve the crisis. Obama and McCain, at least whoever becomes president, will have enough time to say their piece and help if needed. That of course is my opinion. What do you think?
