Obama’s challenges

Author: Rosa Maria Young

We are on the last weeks of the Bush’s presidency and even if most of us don’t think that much of him, we cannot put blinkers on and think that Obama is going to arrive at the White House with a list of things to do like the one followings and be able to check all of them and solve all the unfinished problems the country has. First, we know Obama the campaigner and very little else. As much as we hope and wish that he turns out to be a good president we cannot know yet. And when you consider the ‘to do’ list we have to realize that if choosing the dog for his daughters can be easily achieved, the rest is going to require much more work, as well as luck, and so he will not be able to complete it. Specially no all of this on one term:

-Helping recover the US economy
-Withdrawing most of the troops from Iraq
-Universal Health Care
-Increasing jobs
-Improving education for all children
-Iraq & Afghanistan wars
-Terrorism and finding Osama bin Laden
-North Korea & Iran
-Palestine & Israel
-Finding a dog for his daughters
And so much more… Some of it challenges nobody including Obama might expect.
I imagine these are some the challenges he would like to attend first. But he, as well as us, have to realize that his plans are about to meet reality. We are going to have to be patient and for those who during the campaign thought Obama was “The One” is going to be hard. Let us hope he surrounds himself by good advisers and that he is flexible and able to adapt himself to our times.
