While right now in the US politicians are bickering and posturing trying to get a health reform much needed but little believed in, very soon they are going to be involved in another important matter which is adding to the deficit the government is running but much more important increasing the deaths of the American and NATO soldiers: Afghanistan. Yesterday a suicide bomber crashed a car packed with explosives into a NATO military convoy in Kabul. At least 10 civilians and six Italian soldiers were killed and 55 were wounded. That prompted Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi of Italy to say that his nation has begun planning to bring its soldiers home as soon as possible. And the discontent with the war is happening not only in Italy but in other Western countries. Many people are beginning to question the place of their nations in Afghanistan, a country riddle with corruption in the government which itself, after the disputed last election, is seen as illegitimate.
