Being funny can misfire

Today President Obama and Vice President Biden were in Tampa, Florida. The president, in a move that is almost a tradition, is going to travel to several states to bring the plans he talked about in his State of the Union last Wednesday to the citizens. Fighting for the middle class?

Never mind what the White House officials are spinning about their reaction to the Massachusetts defeat of the Democrats, it is quite evident that they are worried and upset. Health care reform in danger

Next week the US will find out what President Obama has to say in his first official State of the Union. It is widely believed that it could be his last chance to change the mind of his fellow citizens about the pessimism that the country is experiencing now. Obviously, the president himself and his administration are not very happy at the moment after the disastrous, for the Democrats, result of the Massachusetts election, and what that meant for his health care reform. Among chaos and suffering, a 6.1 aftershock strucks Haiti

When some rescue teams were giving up on the task of rescuing more people alive from the rubble and planning to return to their countries, a magnitude 6.1 aftershock, the strongest since the 7.0 magnitude original quake, struck Haiti Wednesday morning. Read the rest of this entry »

Haiti suffers again

One of the worst earthquakes to hit the Caribbean region struck Haiti Tuesday afternoon. With a magnitude estimated at 7.0, it leveled shantytown dwellings as well as causing the collapse of the National Palace. It seems nobody was spared. Read the rest of this entry »

Spin of generals and deaths of troops

In an interview with USA TODAY, Marine Maj. Gen. Richard Mills said that the US troops have driven the Taliban from most towns and villages in the Afghan province of Helmand.
