Leaving Iraq after seven years…
In a televised address from the Oval Office, President Obama declared last evening an end to the seven-year Iraq war in a rather gloomy speech befitting a grim and violent war. The British are coming…
British Prime Minister David Cameron, in power since last May, arrives Tuesday to the US for his first official visit. In the UK there is a lot of expectation about the treatment he will receive by the Obama administration. Stubborn unemployment
If one looks at it from Europe, the unemployment rate in the US does not look so bad. The problem is that the rate does not tell exactly what is going on. For instance, in May the rate declined to 9.5% from 9.7% but that did not mean that more jobs were available. Read the rest of this entry »

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill is a tragedy in more ways than one. Unfortunately, in our anger and impotence to solve it we have been too quick to find a culprit: BP, which contrary to what most people think -even President Obama made that mistake- does not stand for British Petroleum but for Beyond Petroleum. Latest in Germany and the Gulf of Mexico
News change fast these days. In a few hours we have to, if not change, at least report how things have altered. In Germany, it seems it is not going to be “Frauen-Power” after all. Indignation and disappointment
This time, hopefully, the disproportionate violence of the Israeli government in international waters is not going to be easily forgotten. The death of the activists and the many nationalities involved is going to keep the act alive.
