Anyone for new nuclear power plants?
It turns out that while we are getting rather upset about Iran building new nuclear power plants, we are planning to do the same… Well, of course it is not the same, Iran is doing it to turn the uranium fuel rods in power plants into plutonium and use it for warheads. Us, we already have as many nuclear arms as we might need and only need our power plants to generate energy that will stop us for being dependent of those countries from which we import foreign oil. Withdrawal of US Nuclear Arms from Europe
According to the Belgian newspaper Le Soir, five NATO countries, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway and the Netherlands, are planning to ask for the US to withdraw the nuclear arms from Europe. Obama will not attend the planned EU/US summit
In 1991 the ECC (the European Economic Community which became the EU in 1993 by the Treaty of Maastrich) and the US agreed to a system of regular summits to deal with a wide range of economic, environmental and travel related issues that could impact the Americans. Spin of generals and deaths of troops
In an interview with USA TODAY, Marine Maj. Gen. Richard Mills said that the US troops have driven the Taliban from most towns and villages in the Afghan province of Helmand. America: the unemployed and Wall Street bonuses
“Safety Nets for the Rich” was the title of the column Bob Herbert wrote on Monday in the New York Times. I have to say that I agreed with him totally and not only because he commented in the passivity of the American population, something that has always puzzled me. I have many times talked about that with friends and family both in the US and abroad. Many of us thought that American patience does not go with the so much talked about American violence. Will Obama return to Copenhagen?
For the first time the White House has admitted that it does not expect to see a climate bill this year. This has raised doubts about how strongly the Obama administration will press the Senate for a climate bill when they are in the middle of the struggle over health care.
