The Keyboard Politics Update September 3rd, 2010

Depending where one lives, people have different worries and expectations. Thus in Chile the country is hoping and praying that the trapped miners can be rescued while people on the east coast of the US are concerned about the sudden flurry of tropical storms and hurricanes, with 'Earl' probably going to hit the North Carolina coast tonight and 'Fiona' and 'Gaston' somewhere in the Atlantic, and the main international news from today seems to be the start of the first direct talks between Israelis and Palestinians in two years that just got underway in Washington. While President Obama is 'cautiously hopeful', the world seems to be not so confident about the chances of a good outcome.

Unemployment in the US inching towards 10%

Not good news for the Obama administration and specially not good for the many unemployed US workers . While the American economy created 67,00 jobs in the private sector in August, which was slightly better than expected , it was still not enough to bring down the unemployment rate which in fact went up slightly to 9.6 percent. France begins process to ban the burqa
