Being funny can misfire
Today President Obama and Vice President Biden were in Tampa, Florida. The president, in a move that is almost a tradition, is going to travel to several states to bring the plans he talked about in his State of the Union last Wednesday to the citizens. UN condemns US embargo against Cuba
Yesterday the UN general assembly, for the 18th consecutive year, passed a non-binding resolution -with 187 votes in favor, three against and two abstentions- condemning the US economic embargo against Cuba. Floridians buy guns ahead the election
Good old Florida! I hope my state does not pull out another of its election trademarks and tomorrow all goes without a hitch. What worries me is not what happens with the ballots, as in this election there cannot be chads, but what might happen on the Florida streets. Read the rest of this entry »

Election time in Palm Beach County…

Will the missing votes make a difference?

Yesterday Kentucky and Oregon chose Clinton and Obama respectively.
In Kentucky, Clinton won 65% of the votes and Obama 30%. In Oregon, Clinton won 42% and Obama 58%.

Race or gender: not a way to choose
This is beginning to be too much. Some days watching the democratic candidates giving speeches, at rallies and debates, pretending to be what they are not, I wonder at how they are able to keep it up. They seem to have a stamina that we, the voters, are beginning to lose. And not just the ordinary voters but those whose jobs depend on reporting the news. I believe those especially have lost it. Back to foreclosures
On March 31st, I wrote an article which I started with ‘I never thought I would agree with John McCain!’ and finished by saying that ‘I believe he was right when Tuesday he said “it is not the duty of government to bail out and reward those who act irresponsibly, whether they are big banks or small borrowers”.’ After publishing the article I got some mail and questions asking me if I really believed the government should not help in the subprime crisis. Several people pointed to me that doing nothing would result in hurting many people as well as the economy. I want now to go back to what I said and repeat that my agreement with McCain at that time was based on the government bailing out “those who act irresponsibly.” Read the rest of this entry »
