Presidential advice is easily given

As I wrote yesterday, in this Labor Day weekend almost 15 million Americans are jobless. Today, in his weekly radio and Internet address President Obama announced a series of what he called “common-sense steps to save for retirement.” There is something here which does not have much common-sense, specially if you are one of those jobless persons. Let us not forget health care

President-elect Obama has a full plate. That nobody can doubt. In a few weeks the inauguration will take place and all the good and bad news will be his responsibility. Personally, I hope he follows what he promised during the campaign about making health insurance one of the priorities of his administration. Sarkozy on the hot seat

Yesterday evening, Thursday April 24th at 8 p.m. French time, Nicolas Sarkozy, the now beset French president gave a 90 minute TV interview direct from the Elysée, the presidential palace. With this appearance, on the anniversary of the first year in power, the government hopes to get back some of the public support. According to polls the majority of French people think his first year in office has been a failure and a great number are dissatisfied and confused over the supposed reforms his government has proposed.
