A new era for Spain and the United States
The election of Obama was well received in the Spanish government where it is hoped that the relations between both countries will improved markedly. During Bush’s first four years, Spain was governed by the conservative party of Aznar who turned into a fan/follower of Bush and agreed totally with the American in what respected the Iraq War. Obama’s challenges
We are on the last weeks of the Bush’s presidency and even if most of us don’t think that much of him, we cannot put blinkers on and think that Obama is going to arrive at the White House with a list of things to do like the one followings and be able to check all of them and solve all the unfinished problems the country has. If Obama wins, Europeans can expect a few surprises
I think the Europeans were ‘burned” with the presidency of George W. Bush. In Europe, he has been one of the most disliked American presidents. Obama arrived in Iraq in the middle of controversy

Obama ‘the blessed’ and his gaffes

Just a week ago, Obama in front of a Jewish audience in Florida said “My father was from Kenya and Barack actually interestingly enough means the same as Baruch. Iraq, 3 candidates, 3 opinions and a dark tunnel

At the hearing which began yesterday on Capitol Hill with General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker and the different committees, if we were to be honest, we should say that we were not expecting much on the way of clarification of how things really were going in Iraq and even less about a timetable for withdrawal of the troops.
