Following another night of allied air strikes against Gaddafi’s forces, the rebels seem to have retaken the town of Ajdabiya and in their enthusiasm they are ready to begin a march towards Tripoli. Read the rest of this entry »

Tuesday March 15th, 2011 17:02 Saudi troops enter Bahrain
Yesterday when most of the world was focusing in Japan and the tragic happenings that had occurred and were occurring there, politicians were also very much plotting and planning what to do about the civil war in Libya. Few had a thought about people in Yemen and Bahrain who were still revolting against their governments and that the situation in both countries was becoming critical. Friday March 11th, 2011 17:55 Sarkozy recognizes Libyan rebels
What prompted Sarkozy to suddenly recognize the Libyan rebels in Benhazi? Was he trying to give the impression that he was the European leader who had a grasp on the events? Friday March 4th, 2011 17:26 Don’t beat the drums of war, send humanitarian help
From one day to the next the West changes its attitude towards the Libyan crisis. Ominously, some leaders have been beating the drums of war. One day leaders like British Prime Minister Cameron, are asking for a non-flying zone and the next, probably when they realize what that would entail, they retreat. It is worrisome and dangerous as anything can happen. Read the rest of this entry »
Tuesday March 1st, 2011 17:44 Military intervention in Libya?
It was with a little trepidation, that we at KP were planning to write about the danger the western world was getting into with talks of military intervention in Libya as a possibility. We have already been there and we are still suffering the consequences, as Afghanistan and Iraq remind us. Then, we read in The Guardian an article written by Simon Tisdall: “Libyan crisis: Britain and allies now risk overreaction”. We were relieved as we have been thinking along those lines, and we found ourselves in total agreement with his article. Read the rest of this entry »
