It was with a little trepidation, that we at KP were planning to write about the danger the western world was getting into with talks of military intervention in Libya as a possibility. We have already been there and we are still suffering the consequences, as Afghanistan and Iraq remind us. Then, we read in The Guardian an article written by Simon Tisdall: “Libyan crisis: Britain and allies now risk overreaction”. Yesterday, and as expected, the US Senate approved the tax plan negotiated by President Obama and Republican leaders. A deal that is going to cost $858 billion. One of the agreements taken at the NATO summit in Lisbon was that after the coalition would start turning the security control to the Afghans this spring, the transition would be completed by the year 2014. The NATO summit in Lisbon is finished. After the dismal results of the G20 in Seoul, the leaders attending Lisbon have gone home relieved that things went better this time.
