Giving them the benefit of the doubt, we could say the mainstream media in the US have so much to write, show or talk -the averted government shutdown, the budget, Libya- that they have given not much information about a letter signed by legal experts and published by The New York Review of Books. Signed by no fewer than 250 legal experts, the letter express their concern about what they said is the “degrading and inhumane” treatment of Bradley Manning, the US soldier accused of leaking classified cables and documents that led to the Wiki Leaks affair. With all the turmoil in the Middle East and Africa, Israel has not been much on the news lately. All of a sudden we have heard about new developments that bring it back to our attention. First one is the proposal for a Palestinian state that will include all of the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem. The countries leading this proposal, Germany, Britain and France, would call for an Israeli withdrawal for almost all the territories that were captured in the 1967 Mideast war. Does anyone know what is going on in Libya? It seems as if all we are getting is disinformation from all sides. When one sees the confusion and the chaos not only in Libya but also among the reports of the coalition it is hard to believe anything.
