Health care reform in danger

Next week the US will find out what President Obama has to say in his first official State of the Union. It is widely believed that it could be his last chance to change the mind of his fellow citizens about the pessimism that the country is experiencing now. A detour to Copenhagen before Oslo

One could say that we have a president who does not rush to decide or do things. In some cases that could be a positive thing. In others like the decision on whether to send troops and how many to Afghanistan it could be less so. The decision on whether to attend the Copenhagen summit at the beginning of December should not have been so agonizing for the president, specially if he believes in global warming. Will Obama return to Copenhagen?

For the first time the White House has admitted that it does not expect to see a climate bill this year. This has raised doubts about how strongly the Obama administration will press the Senate for a climate bill when they are in the middle of the struggle over health care.
